It’s Damper Making

DSC02336

At camp AKA Douglas scrub. We did a lot of  things, but one of them was damper making. It was awesome, funny, and  weird. Firstly we got all the ingredients for damper making. Some of the ingredients were  flour,  sugar, salt, milk, chocolate buds and sprinkles. I think we over loaded it with sprinkles. When we finished the dough Stefano cooked the damper while we played on the wooden play ground. Once it was cooked we went over to the table to see our damper (Elissa’s and Niamh’s) Our damper stood out the most. The was blackness was everywhere on ours. Stefano said he needs a chain saw to open ours. He couldn’t do slices, so he gave us half to eat. Niamh wanted her own half, so Niamh walked over to the  table. Niamh accidentally grabbed someone’s damper and the name on it was ma a coos (Matthew and Cooper) at least that is what it said on the wrapper. Well that’s our story.

Rope Bridges

DSC02629

We did lot’s of fun things at camp, but one of the best was making rope bridges.  This was a team game where we worked hard to create a bridge entirely out of ropes.  Our bridges had to hold the whole of our group and be strong enough to safely walk across.  I was in a team with Rosie, Aimee and Phoebe and we created an awesome bridge that we had fun making together.

Holiday to Queensland!

photo (1)On Wednesday, I photo (2)got up at 4 am to get a taxi to the airport. When we got to the airport we checked in and put our luggage on the plane. We waited about 30 minutes and then got on the plane. I was sitting next to Dad and Milly  was sitting next to Mum. It took about 2 hours and 30 minutes to fly to Brisbane. When we had all our luggage we got a hire car and drove for about 2 hours and finally  we arrived at the Sunshine Coast.

In a few days I had already been on the water park, kayaks, catamarans, in the pools, swimming in the lagoon and also on the water trampoline. Wile I was there I met 3 really good friends Nick, Matt and Conner. We all had heaps of fun together going on all the activities. Conner was the first to leave, which left Nick and Matt.

The last day came quickly and I have to say I think it was the best. We went on the water park together and my Dad even came on too! It was the coolest when we crawled to the end of this big air pillow and from a high platform Dad jumped on the other end and I went like 5 meters in the air and then made a huge splash in the water. I also went on a Segway tour for an hour. We then did mini golf a few times. I would say this is the best holiday ever!

Granparents & Special Friends Day Performance: The Brady Bunch

Last Friday was Grandparents and Special Friends Day, where traditionally we invite our Grandparents and Special Friends to school for a school performance, a look through our classrooms and a lunch. The day was a great success and we really enjoyed presenting our Brady Bunch item. Everyone can be very proud of their efforts. The performances were given confidently and with a lot of enthusiasm. We would like to thank especially Mrs Cannizzaro for her help with preparing the dance at the beginning and assisting with improving our skit during the rehearsals. It was great to see so many Grandparents and Special Friends there on the day, but we understand that not all that wanted to be there could. Well, thanks to modern technology you can see our performance below along with some photos that were taken during our dress rehearsal and some on the day of our performance. We invite you to please leave a comment on this post, the students would love to read your feedback.

MND Ice Bucket Challenge

Yes, the Ice Bucket Challenge has come to Nativity. I was nominated by my brother in-law and went through with the challenge yesterday in front of the whole school. A big thank you to my daughters, who were coached into pouring the icy contents of the bucket very, very slowly.

I have challenged my class to take on the challenge with parent permission of course, but please don’t forget why all this is taking place. It is to raise awareness and money for MND (Motor Neurone Disease). Any donations would be greatly appreciated and can be made by clicking on the following link.

We had to measure our feet and get the right bowling shoes. I was a size adult two. Then we got into our teams. I was with Zanle, Jem, Matthias, Saara and Noah. Matthias went first then Jem went second. Saara went 3rd and Zanle went 4th. I was last. We each got ten shots. I came in first place, Zanle came second, Matthias came 3rd, Saara came 4th and Jem came last. We had lots of fun. I got 131 points.

Year 3 ZooSnooze Camp – Part 8: The Sun Bear

DSC01101 DSC01105 DSC01116 DSC01122 DSC01130 DSC01136 DSC01139While we were on camp we got to go out of bounds to feed a Sun Bear. When we all got there Claire and Steve had got all of the food ready for the Sun Bear to eat. Sun Bears eat mashed potatoes, mashed apple, peanuts and the worst part of it all is the worms. No one and I mean no one touched those worms!!

Then  we got to hide the food for the Sun Bear. It was fun. After that we watched the Sun Bear eat its food. The first thing he went up to was a piece of orange and then watermelon.
