Carnival Day for Project Compassion

On Monday 25th March the Year 3-7 classes hosted a Carnival Day for Project Compassion. Each class was responsible for setting up some games for the lunch time event. Our class was responsible for the ‘Hopscotch’ courts and the ‘Knock the Pots Down’ stall. Each student made a gold coin donation to enter and received a wrist band to show that they had supported the cause. We all had a great time while raising money for Project Compassion. Below are some photos from the day.

Harmony Day

For Harmony Day our class will be teaming up with Mr Palmer’s Class from Thiele Primary School. Our goal is to get together and leave a quality comment on a classroom blog locally, interstate or overseas. Hopefully we will learn a lot about what life is like for other students and open the lines of communication by asking questions and sharing about our experiences here on Campus. We will let you know how we get on in a future post.

Now for the task……

1. Refresh your own memory and instruct your buddy on what a quality comment is by following the link below.

http://yollisclassblog.blogspot.com.au/2011/08/learning-how-to-comment.html

2. Choose one or two blogs to explore and leave a quality comment. Don’t forget to include a greeting (Give some information about where you are from and what year level you are in), compliment the post, add new information and ask a question.

Click on this link for a list of blogs to choose from http://tab.bz/jbbvs

3. Take a screen shot of your comment and get a teacher to check it before submitting it.

4. Have fun!

If you finish early try these activities……

World Education Games

The Year 3s are really excited to be taking part in the World Education Games this year. They each have their own username and password and have been practicing their Maths, Literacy and Science skills online over the past couple of weeks. Over the next three days we will be taking part in the World Literacy, Maths and Science Days. We will be using the PAC computer room and the Nativity laptops for an hour on each of the days competing against students from all over the world. If you are away on any of these days or don’t get to complete the challenge you can participate using your login details on a home computer. We look forward to sharing with you, our experience of this event in a future post.

Clean Up Australia Day

Last Friday we joined Mr Palmer’s Year 3/4 class for Clean Up Australia Day. We cleaned up around the perimeter of our bottom oval. Thankfully it was a very quick job, because the yard was already very clean. Well Done Year 3s and Mr Palmer’s Year 3/4 Class :).

Science: Rocks, Soils and Landscapes

For Science we are exploring rocks, soils and landscapes and how they have changed over time. We have a challenge for you. Can you guess where the landscape pictured below comes from? Do you think you know what is causing this landscape to change over time? We would love to read your ideas. Please leave a comment with your ideas.
