Our class visited the Adelaide Zoo recently to take part in the Planetkeepers program. We spent time with a Zoo educator learning more about our focus animal the Orangutan. We learnt about why the Orangutans are critically endangered and what can be done to help protect them.
We were also very lucky to spend some time with the Orangutan Zoo Keeper, who provided us with lots of interesting information. We also got to go behind the scenes in an area not open to the public for a closer experience with one of the three Orangutans at the Zoo.
We had a fantastic time at the Zoo. As part of the Planetkeepers program we are currently undertaking research into Orangutans and endangered animals generally to look at ways we can raise awareness of why Orangutans and other animals are endangered. We will also be deciding on some ways in which we can raise money to go to organisations that help protect Orangutans. Be sure to have a look at our video below and keep coming back to our blog to learn more about Orangutans and what you can do to help protect them.

Looks like a very fun and informative day. The knowledge Luke & Alex shared with me when I picked them up was very interesting and they were very excited to share what they learnt.
