We received our Planetkeeper wrist bands last week for completing the Planetkeepers challenge of raising awareness and money for endangered Sun Bears. Please find below a letter we got from the Zoo, our class photo inside the Sun Bear’s enclosure and a photo of us all wearing our Planetkeeper wrist bands.

On Friday I received a letter from Animals Asia thanking us for our donation of $182.65. Below is a certificate of appreciation they sent us.

Our group today raised money for the Sun Bears. We sold lolly bags and cupcakes to Thiele and Pilgrim Primary schools today on Campus. We raised a lot of money, unfortunately we ran out of time to count it all, but we will let you know how much we raised as soon as we do. Â We certainly aren’t having much luck with the weather. It was raining today, so we had to go to the classrooms to sell the lolly bags and cupcakes during lunchtime. We got a little wet, but it was worth it.

In term two we went on a Zoo Snooze Camp. We looked at the different animals at the zoo. We even got the ability to see the animals at night. We even got to go in the Sun Bear’s enclosure. Our focus was on the sun bears. We found out that the sun bears were endangered, because people got bear bile out of the sun bears, which is used for medicine. They are kept as pets and when they get big people give them to the restaurants and they chop off the paws and turn them into bear paw soup. People also keep Sun Bears on Sun Bear farms in small cages.
We are doing a planet keeper challenge to help the sun bears.
We are selling yummy foods to raise money for the sun bears. We are raising awareness by blogging about the Sun Bears, speaking at our school assemblies and talking to other classes.
