Last Thursday the Year 3-5 (Primary Years) classes enjoyed an interactive day learning about how our brains react to and process our emotions throughout a day.  We made models of our brains and named the parts of our response system, discussed our Window of Tolerance and explored some strategies to regulate our emotions throughout the day.  We practised a mindful meditation technique and belly breathing and learnt about the powerful effect music can have on the brain. Understanding how our brain works and practising mindfulness helps strengthen our brains’ emotional response so we feel calm, keep our stress low, learn better, feel happy, make good choices and care for others.
