Miami in America

Elliott’s report about his family trip to Miami:

On the way to America from Melborne we went by a A380. It took 13 hours flying from Melbourne. It took for ever and ever to get there. At Maimi there was lots of stuff to do for example mono rails (metro movers) trains (metrorails) South Beach, Everglades, Parades and much more. Threre’s heaps of stuff in Florida like Disney World and NASA. We are having heaps of fun.

The bones in the kitchen.

One of the activities for Health was all the classes in the St Joseph building going to our Kitchen to touch cows legs and sheep necks. Did you know that Mrs Pike got them from the butcher? Did you know that they also had muscle still on them? We also were touching sheep knee caps. Most people thought it was gross to be touching cows legs and sheep knee caps and necks. We had to have gloves on, because after it was lunch. Most people said that they didn’t want to eat lunch, because some people were not feeling very well from touching the bones. Then when the bell went to go to lunch it was too hot to go outside and play, but we did have to clean up first. We also did other activities in the other rooms about bones and muscles, but the bones in the kitchen was the last activity our class did.

Monster trucks at Nativity

On Thursday in week 3 a monster truck came to Nativity. The monster truck’s name was Raptor’s Rampage. It cost 350 thousand Australian dollars. Kyle and I (Luke) went to the show. On Saturday the monster trucks came to the showgrounds to do a show. When I got there I went to the pit party. When I went back to our spots we waited for the show to start.

Then the monster trucks came out after the bikes and then the monster trucks came out and the commentator talked to them. Then the monster trucks did a race. Batman won. Then Devil’s Taxi tried to do the world record wheelie and he did it in four shots. He made 91 metres.  Then they did freestyle and Raptor’s Rampage and Taz crashed. Batman won the freestyle. Then they did a train where the monster trucks follow the leader. Then the jet van came out and he used a a smoke machine and smoked up the place. Then when he used the jet engine in the back you could see the fire and the smoke. It ended and we went home.

Health and our bones!

In health we are learning about the bones in our body. We did an activity about our bones. We had to go into groups of 4.

We got a large piece of butcher’s paper.

Then someone from each group had to lie on the piece of butcher’s paper.

The other three people from the group would trace around the person that was lying on the butcher’s paper.

After we had traced around the person that was lying on the butcher’s paper we had to outline it with black texta.

Once we had outlined the body on the piece of paper we had to draw all the bones from the skeletal system in different coloured textas.

After that we had to label the bones in the body.

We thought that the bones activity was so much fun. It taught us lots of different facts about the skeletal system. Did you know that the finger bones are called phalanges?
